Yes, we bravely took on this challenge and it went well! My creative mom friends made it so fun, and even when the kids lost interest and started coloring and tearing up the apt, in turns, we sat around the table and enjoyed each other and our decorating pursuits for a few minutes longer.

Recipes:

*No Sugar “Sugar” cookies–recipe/frosting here.

*Choco-chip cookies and pretzels with melted white choco chips for dipping

Then, we topped it off with a dinner of mac n’ cheese for the kids, and quinoa veggie dish, and leftover Moroccan lamb stew (recipe coming to blog soon) for the grownup palates.

Everyone took a treats plate home with them at the end. It worked out well because I had wanted to bake for all these friends anyway, but this way we ended up all going home with goodies after a gathering! But there is a chance not all the cookies are fully untouched…

I have to show you some of the post party mess as well. It could have been alot worse if I had done the dough on the same day but I took care of all of that the night before. The cookies are delicate so the main warning I share from experience if you use the recipe linked above–which is amazing!– is to let them really cool on the pan and harden up before moving them to foil.

As my husband can tell you–it was nearly cleaned up when he walked in the door at 10pm:)

Definitely plan to make this a tradition–and to continue adding to the variety of healthy takes on holiday favs that we can create and share with friends!
